Pit Stop is a web3 Formula 1 fantasy game platform where players can build their virtual garages by minting F1 cars as NFTs and compete with others by wagering these NFT cars on real life F1 races.
Check it out at playpitstop.racing
Here’s how it works -
- You start off by minting a race car/livery as your NFT.
- You then use this NFT to back your favorite driver on the grid in a real world grand-prix/race.
- Grab some food and drinks and enjoy the race with your friends and family.
- Post race, come and claim your points for the race.
Initially, when you mint your NFT, each car has 0 points. After the race when you claim your points, the score of your NFT also increases depending upon the points the driver that you backed scores in the real world race. These points make your NFT more valuable and also push you up on the global leaderboard.
Here’s what we have achieved so far -
- The project was built as a submission to ETHIndia’s ETHernals hackathon where we won the Gaming/NFT track by Polygon as well as the award for best use of IPFS by Filecoin. Since the results were declared, we have been working constantly working on improving the platform and rolling out new features. It is currently deployed to the Polygon Mumbai Testnet.
- We conducted our third test run a week ago for the Spanish GP where we let some F1 and web3 enthusiast try out our platform during the race weekend. A lot of them used the platform and we got a lot of positive responses on the concept that we are trying to build as well the changes that we have been making since our first test run.
- We are conducting a test run today as well(29 May, 2022) as F1 is going to race in Monaco. We rolled out our own algorithm during the Spanish GP on Pit Stop and this weekend as well we will be focusing on having people use it and test it out. No big changes this weekend as we were busy building the mobile application for Pit Stop which we would like to test out in the coming weeks as well.
- After every test run, we have been talking to all those who tested out Pit Stop via 1:1 calls in order to learn about their experience while using the platform and learn from their feedback which will help us in bringing new changes to the platform and improving their overall experience of using the platform.
- From the feedback we got, we are currently working on making the platform more intuitive so that its easy to use for the users who are not so familiar with F1 and web3. One of our main focus currently is to reduce friction in user onboarding and helping everyone try out the platform irrespective of whether they have a wallet or not and also minimize step such as explicitly paying gas and incorporating gasless transactions to resolve this issue.
- Even though we are still on the Polygon test net, we have 120 people who have explored our platform so far and we are moving closer towards crossing the 200 mark.
Here’s our vision for this platform -
- Our goal is to turn this into one of the biggest projects in the web3 space and take it to the Polygon main net where we can have more users use our platform with a better experience.
